RARE, hard to find, Wedgwood Brown Transferware Handled Plate in the "Beatrice" pattern.
These were made by the Wedgwood factory in the Staffordshire district of England Circa 1880. A Wonderful, Aesthetic brown transferware design. BEATRICE pattern features rich and wildly exotic Japanesque designs with a plethora of flowers and foliage. The designs are the height of the aesthetic movement. The pattern displays the Victorian eras love of the exotic.
The Markings on the back date this platter to June 16th of 1880.
Excellent for its age, NO CRACKS, CHIPS OR CRAZING, DOES HAVE WEAR ON THE BACKSIDE EDGES ONLY, NOTHING SIGNIFICANT. Has a few minimal brown spots on the backside. A fabulous find for a plate over 113 years old.
