~ GARFIELD PATTERN - Wallis Gimson Potteries ~ Staffordshire England - c. 1885
~ The Aesthetic Movement period was from 1870 to 1900's.
~ This large Victorian Aesthetic Dinner Soup Plate or Shallow Bowl has a wonderful printed in dark chocolate brown with a hint of gold transferware pattern. The pattern features a fantastic wide, busy band of Japanesque Cartouches and alternating geometric flourishes with butterflies hiding among the flowers. Cascading roses spill into the bowl.
~ The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name, the retail initials L.S. & S./ Levi Strauss and Son and the Beehive trademark that identifies the maker as Wallis Gims, a pottery maker working in Fenton in the Staffordshire region of England from 1884-1890.
~ CONDITION: Great Condition. Has light age appropriate Crazing, BUT ever so light. NO CHIPS OR CRACKS - Normal light wear on rim edges and normal light scratches or utensil marks are present, but very light.
~ MEASURES: 9 3/4" wide x approx 1 1/2" deep
